Borrowed books cannot be opened on another computer regardless its activation status. If the other device is not activated or if it is activated with another ID, a pop up window will appear to ask for ID when opening the purchased books. If two devices are activated with the same ID, purchased books can be opened on the other device. Books can be copied from one device to another device. The books downloaded before activation will not be converted.Ĥ. If you activate your computer with Digital Editions with an ID, all the purchased or borrowed books afterwards belong to that ID.ģ. ![]() If you activate your computer with Digital Editions anonymously, all the purchased or borrowed books afterwards belong to that computer. This is really upsetting, since I'm no longer able to borrow books from my library (something I was able to do previously).ġ. I've asked Adobe support but they can't help since ADE is a free product and they're "not trained to help with this product". Then I've tried to deauthorize my computer and authorizing it again. ![]() Kobo website basically asks me to authorize the reader again, which I did (first by de-authorizing and then authorizing). ![]() Because you previously deauthorized your eReader you need to re-import the book using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). Then I transfer them over to my Kobo ereader, but when I try to open the book, I get a message "This book is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM). I check out my books via Overdrive from my library. I suspect one of the below fixed the problem:ġ.I've been having issues with ADE authorizing books on my Kobo ereader. I transferred Book C using ADE to my Kobo, unplugged it and it was working fine.įinally, I re-plugged my reader and transferred Book A (a loan) to my eReader. I picked a public domain book (with expired copyrights) that was available to download and keep forever (not a loan). I re-plugged my reader and transferred Book C loan from the original library (the Open Library). I transferred that loan to my eReader and it worked. I then downloaded another book (Book B, 21 daysloan) from a different library (I used London Libraries Consortium). I was trying to transfer my 14 days Book A loan from the Open Library to my Kobo Wireless eReader Version 1.9.12 but it was giving me the error. I tried everything mentioned in this thread (de-authorising, resetting my eReader, downloading a new book, deleting the old one), nothing worked. Any suggestions are appreciated as I feel I have tried everything, save a Kobo reset, or trashing the Kobo altogether. I have checked out a few threads regarding similar issues, but none with my particular error message. I have not done a factory reset on my Kobo as I don't want to lose all my purchased eBooks. I have contacted Kobo as well and they say it's an ADE issue and will not discuss it further. ADE seems to be working as advertised, but my Kobo is not cooperating. I can read my books on my MacBook using ADE, and I can even read them using ADE when I click on my Kobo icon in ADE sidebar and open the book. I have contacted Adobe and they checked my Adobe account and authorizations and was told that I still have unused activations and my authorizations appear to be in order. I have uninstalled my version of ADE and downloaded and installed the latest version. Deauthorizing and reauthorizing my Kobo worked a couple of times, but not any longer. I have tried deauthorizing the reader and then reauthorizing it before reimporting it to my Kobo. I have tried reimporting the book, and even returning the book and then reborrowing it before reimporting it to my Kobo. Because you previously deauthorized your eReader, you need to reimport the book using ADE". I have a Kobo Glo and I am now getting the following error message "Your eReader is not authorized to open this book. ![]()
